Joe Lane Obituary
Joe Dan Lane, 70, passed away on December 7, 2017 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born on December 31, 1946 in Carrizozo, New Mexico to Wade and Barbara (Smith) Lane.
Joe grew up in Lincoln County, NM and graduated from Ruidoso High School in 1965. He married Marilyn Harcrow in July of 1966 and joined the United States Army that same month. Joe was a longtime employee of the Phone Company in Ruidoso beginning in 1969 and retired from Tularosa Basin Telephone Company in 2014. Joe's greatest joy were his family, friends, his love of hunting, and other hobbies including wood working.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Lane; his son, Joe Howard Lane; two brothers, Al Lane and Kevin Lane; as well as his dear friend and hunting partner, Ed Nichols.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Wade Lane; his parents, Barbara Martha Lane and Wade Hampton Lane, Sr.; sister, Lois Lane; and brother, Wade H. Lane, Jr.
The memorial service for Joe Lane will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 11, 2017 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Al Lane officiating.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Alamogordo Hospice or American Cancer Society.
The Lane family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.

Thoughts and prayers to the Lanes.
I remember them when their parents had the Dairy Queen in Carrizozo. That was one of my favorite places to visit after school.
So you can place me, my mother managed the Western Hotel for many years.

I am so very sorry that I was not able to be there to say goodbye to my old and dear friend Joe and to see Marilyn to express my sadness to her personally. Joe was always very upbeat, personal and had a smile on his face. I so enjoyed seeing Joe and Marilyn at our reunions. The world will be a little sadder without Joe in it as his soul brought everyone such joy. Mary Underwood
