Henry Davis Obituary

Henry Martin Davis, Sr., a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the age of 85. Henry was born in New Orleans, LA on October 14, 1939, to the late Joseph and Beatrice Davis. He was a lifelong Catholic and was baptized at Corpus Christi Catholic Church and was a faithful member of St. David Catholic Church for over fifty years, serving in many ministries. Henry attended Corpus Christi Catholic School and completed grade school at Valena C. Jones Elementary School. He matriculated through Andrew J. Bell Junior High School and Graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1959. He received various certifications from Delgado Community College and earned a BS in Business Administration from Southern University at New Orleans. Early in his career, he was a helper and driver for The JAX Brewery Company in New Orleans. After JAX closed, he worked at Lone Star Industries, the Mechanical Equipment Company and retired from Crescent Crown Beverage as a salesman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Beatrice Davis, daughter Avis Denise Davis, Sister Marie Hicks, and brothers Joseph (Dorothy) and Morris Davis, Sr. (Elaine). He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years, Amy Davis; a sister Brenda Bourne of Darrow, Louisiana; two sons: Henry Martin Davis, Jr. (Darlene) and Eric Davis (Carla), both of Houston, Texas; and his daughter Rachel Davis of New Orleans, Louisiana. His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren: Henry Davis, III (Kiosha), Joshua Davis, Ruth Davis, Dymond Davis, Simone Haley, Daniel Davis, Sundiata Haley, and Joseph Davis; and one great-grandson, Caleb Davis. Henry also leaves an extended loving family, including his brothers-in-law Frank Scott Jr. and Larry Scott (Janice Lee), and his sister-in-law Angel Scott. He was also a Father-in-Law to Zina Davis and N. Sundiata Haley. Henry will be fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He Will Be Greatly Missed By Everyone! Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at St. David Catholic Church, 5617 St. Claude Avenue, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 am.
