AGE: 92 • Tucson, Ariz.

Anthony M. Russo, 92, of Tucson, AZ, was received into the loving arms of the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. The last six weeks of his life were enjoyed at his son's house in Thonotosassa, Florida, before passing peacefully in his sleep at the LifePath Hospice House in Sun City, FL. Known by friends and family as Tony, he was born Dec. 11, 1920 in Harrison, NY. He lived most his life in the Red Bank, NJ area, working as a union carpenter and member of the NJ Carpenters Union, Local 255. He retired to Tucson in 1983. He proudly served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945. While living in Tucson, he and his wife Marie enjoyed volunteering at the food bank and the Senior Center, where he also enjoyed shooting pool and playing cards.

Marie, the love of his life and wife of 65 years preceded him in death as did their daughter, Carmella Cates. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Andrew, Dominick, and Pasquale Russo; and his sister, Rose Porcelli. He is survived by his son, Anthony J. Russo and wife Nancy of Thonotosassa, FL; daughter, Marie Russo of Tucson; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his home on Appomattox St. in Tucson. An Honors Ceremony will be held at 2 p.m.Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista, AZ.
