Margot Glas Rapel, 93, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Sunrise Senior Living in Basking Ridge. Born in Nieder Weisel, Germany, Margot arrived in the United States in 1935 and resided in West Palm Beach for twenty years before moving to Toms River, where she resided for twenty years, before moving to Basking Ridge two years ago. Mrs. Rapel was a homemaker and a salesperson for Sears in Newark. She was an avid bridge and mahjong player; enjoyed knitting, baking, reading, and listening to various big band orchestras. Margot enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Julius and Recha Kramer Glas; her beloved husband, Benjamin Rapel; her loving son, David Rapel; and her dear brother-in-law, Mario Farina. Surviving are her loving son, Harold Rapel and his wife, Doris of Mission Viejo, CA; her seven cherished grandchildren, Brian Rapel, Douglas Rapel, Todd Rapel, Karin Rapel Kinney, Melissa Shandi, Stephanie Rapel, and Jonathan Rapel; her eleven great-grandchildren, Ryan Rapel, Taylor Rapel, Amanda Rapel, Hailey Rapel, Davis Kinney, Caylan Kinney, Logan Rapel, Avery Rapel, Lola Shandi, Seth Shandi, and Ethan Rapel; her dear sisters, Melitta Schmidt and her husband, Joseph of Union and Trudy Farina of Lakewood; her dear daughter-in-law, Diane Rapel-Zierak of Long Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 1:15 PM at Congregation B'nai Israel Memorial Park, Corner of Whitty and Old Freehold Roads, Toms River, NJ 08753.
