Robert A. Johnson

Manchester Township - Robert A. Johnson, 92, of Manchester Township, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at home. He had previously lived in Lakehurst for more than 50 years and he served as a Councilman. Robert retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after serving 22 years. He then worked for Switlik, Inc. as a quality control supervisor until he retired. He was born in Bellmawr, NJ to Charles and Mable Johnson, one of six children. Robert was a member of the Fleet Reserve, Branch 124, for over 50 years and was a Lifetime Member. Robert is pre-deceased by his wife, Ethel, in 2000 after 52 years of marriage and by his son, Eric in 2018. Robert is survived by his son, David and his wife Debra of Lakehurst, NJ and by two daughters, Judy Dilzer and her husband Ron of Pine Beach, NJ and Lynne Glover and her husband Chris of Albany, GA, his daughter-in-law Gail Johnson, two sisters, Ruth Fuhrmeister and Norma Keane, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Interment 10:00am Friday, June 11, 2021, at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, followed by a memorial gathering at DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, 119 Union Ave., Lakehurst from 11:00am - 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Fleet Reserve, Branch 124, in Lakehurst, NJ or to Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, NJ.
