Rose Florio Obituary
ROSE M. FLORIO
AGE: 89 BARNEGAT
Rose M. Florio, 89, of Barnegat, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was born in Hoboken and lived in Middletown, Monmouth Beach, and Pine Beach before moving to Barnegat 17 years ago. Rose worked as a registered nurse and retired from the MediCenter, Red Bank. She was one of the original charter nurses at Riverview Hospital, Red Bank. She was the former head nurse in King James Nursing Home, Middletown. She was an Army veteran serving during World War II. Rose was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Little Egg Harbor.
Surviving are a son, James Florio of Barnegat; a son, Michael Florio of Leonardo; a son, Leonard Florio of Parkertown; a son, Angelo Florio of Parkertown; a daughter, Mary Walenta of Middletown; a daughter, Angela Florio of Ocean Township; a brother, Michael Carluccio of North Carolina; an aunt, Edith Ortolano of Hoboken; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Angelo Florio, in 1999; and a son, Matthew Florio, in 1996.
Visiting will be from noon Monday, Aug. 17 until the funeral services at 2 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Interment will follow at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected].

Rose was a part of my family way back in 1971-72. We wll never forget her. She cared for my mother and then my father. She shared many stories about her family and helped me raise mine...esp. spoiling my son who was only a toddler. She even taught us how to crochet!
She was a great lady! I will always be indebted to her.
My prayers are with you. Know that she loved you very much.
