Margaret Nissen Obituary
A funeral service for Margaret Nissen will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 1:30 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery in Edgerton, MN. Margaret was born to Fred and Grace (Folkerts) Uilk on November 6, 1916 in Edgerton, MN. After her graduation from Pipestone High School in 1934, she attended one year of normal school or teachers college. In 1935, she started teaching in a one-room country school. She was united in marriage to Raymond Nissen on June 6, 1940. In 1941, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she took a teaching job at a country school. Later she was a teacher at Longfellow School in Sioux Falls retiring in 1972. In 1979, Margaret and Raymond began spending their winters in Mesa, AZ. In October 2014, she moved to Ridgeview Estates in Pipestone. On December 5, 2014, she became a resident of Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she died on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the age of 99 years. Mrs Nissen was my teacher at Longfellow she was a very good teacher and very sweet, she helped me overcome my shyness and made me a better person. I have thought of her often over the years. Sorry for the loss, she was a special person!
