Jeffrey Stites Hard

Hallowell, ME — Everyone has a different tale about Jeffrey Hard. He always wanted to believe in the good in others. He was a loving father, a caring son, and a devoted friend.

Jeffrey Stites Hard died at 2:00 p.m. on March 15, 2022, surrounded by relatives.

He leaves behind his son Jeffrey Hard Jr., daughter Amanda Hard Grady, mother Anita Hard, his siblings Helen Fullerton, Nancy Cristoforo, Hugh Hard, and all those who loved him.

On March 24, 1953, he was born to Robert A. Hard (dead) and Anita Ray Hard.

Jeff was a typical youngster. He was the Hard family's second son. His mother used to say "He never caused me any trouble."

He attended Arizona State and North Eastern University after high school.

Two years later, he would be among the thousands who would attend the legendary Woodstock music festival. It was one of his most treasured memories.

He worked in the jewelry industry, as a truck driver, and most memorably as a distributor for Little Debbies. His kids remember Dad coming home and letting them choose their favorite Little Debbie box for the week.

Lesser known pastimes of his were his green thumb and a talent for gardening. It was a frequent thing for him to tell friends and family that the sun on the left side of the house in the morning was very different from the sun on the right side of the house in the afternoon.

His deep love for music is where many of us connect with this charismatic man. A strong appreciation for the Blues always got him bobbing his head when he heard it. He would ask everyone around him to name that tune. Nine times out of ten, he was the only person who knew the name.
