I was just sitting here at work thinking about Brett and about the first time I met him. I was the first and I think one of the only females to ever serve with Brett and let me tell you something... He was a joy to be around. He always made me laugh and made work fun. I can't believe it has been this long already! When I came to the service with all of the guys I didn't know what to think. I just couldn't believe that he was gone. Now I know that he has been watching over me, because ever since that day I have lived life to the fullest and done things that I thought I would never do all because one time we were standing on post and Brett told to me just let loose cause you never know when your day is coming. Well Brett thank you Doll! I love you Brother and I miss ya like crazy!

Please if you need anything please let me know. Even if y'all just want to talk.

Dear Melinda and John,

So many sweet memories of your precious son, Brett, fill my mind. That dear face of the four-year-old in my preschool class will never be forgotten, as well as the contagious laugh I remember so well. I believe he is laughing now, arm and arm with his Papa in heaven.

You must be so proud of him and his life. I often look at the Christmas card picture you sent me a few years ago, Melinda, and pray for you and John and the boys. Your family has been so special to me all these years and always will be like my own family in my heart.

I love you and wish I could come to you and wrap my arms around you and give you a big hug. Thankfully, I know our heavenly Father is doing just that. I pray that you can feel it today.

Love to you,

Jill

My heart goes out to his family. My brother Cpl Stanley Ruditis III passed away August of last year. I no the pain and the heart ache that you feel. When my brother passed away a lady had sent this to my mother and I and it touched us deeply so I'm passing it on to you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I did not know your son, but I wanted to thank you for him and his service to our country. How brave he was to give his life for people he did not even know. How grateful I am for what he did so that I could rest my head each night knowing he was keeping me save. What fine people you must be to have raised such a man. You are in my prayers.

To the Family,

I just wanted to send my condolences to you. I am not aware of your beliefs, however, I hope that you find comfort in what the Bible promises when it mentions that God himself "...is making wars to cease to the extremity of the earth..." and many will find "exquisite delight in the abundance of peace" (Psalms 46:9, 37:11) I hope that you find comfort in this.
