David Ballard Jr. 87 of Marietta died Wednesday November 22, 2006. Born in Richmond, VA, he spent the last 46 years in the Chamblee, Dunwoody, and Marietta area. His first wife, Lois Wilkins Ballard; brother, Frank Ballard; and sister, Gene Ballard Timberlake, precede him in death. He is survived by his second wife, Elaine Morris Ballard, Marietta; son Dr. David C. Ballard, III and his wife Judy, Marietta; daughter, Barbara D'Reaux and her husband Bob, Southport, NC; grandchildren, Matt D'Reaux, Leesburg, VA, and Robyn D'Reaux, Mt. Pleasant, MI; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Ansley D'Reaux, and Kalin D'Reaux-Rogers; step-children, Mark and Jill Morris, Raleigh, NC, Kurt and Valerie Morris, Suwanee, and Kenneth and Grace Morris, Sugar Hill. Mr. Ballard experienced a great and fulfilling life. He was a member of the choir and a Lay Reader at St. Bede's Episcopal Church in Chamblee, and later a member of Dunwoody United Methodist Church in Dunwoody. He attained the rank of Captain in the US Army and proudly served in WWII, and the Korean War. He was particularly proud to be in one of the first waves on Omaha Beach with the First Infantry Division, 16th Infantry Regiment, Cannon Company. He was a member of Dunwoody Post 1082 of the VFW. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 2 o'clock PM at Dunwoody United Methodist Church with Dr. Wiley Stephens officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends Saturday 1 hour prior to the service at Dunwoody United Methodist Church, 1548 Mt. Vernon Rd. Dunwoody. Arrangements by H.M.
