GATES, Isaac, Jr. ISAAC GATES, JR. Farewell Services for Isaac Gates, Jr. of Decatur, GA will be held Friday, December 30, 2011, 11:00 A.M. at Faith A.M.E. Zion Church, 38 Hamilton E. Holmes Dr., Atlanta, with remains placed in state at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Jawwad J. Love, Pastor, Officiating. Interment Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the chapel this evening (Thursday) from 8:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. He is survived by spouse, Mrs. Clara Gates; two sons, Kevin L. (Tiffany) Gates; Aquanus VaShawn Gates; granddaughter, Erin A. Gates; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Jackson (Bruce), Ms. Claudia G. Molden; Mrs. Vivian Wilkins (James), Ms. Rosalind Gates; a sister-in-law, Ms. Elaine H. Pittman; an aunt, Mrs. Ella V. Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Business Associates. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 2999 Del Monico Drive, Decatur, GA 30032 at 10:00 A.M. Donald Trimble Mortuary, Inc., 1876 Second Ave. (404) 371-0772-3.

To the Gates Family,
This is my story. Isaac was my friend on Face Book and his birthday popped up. When I went to his page to wish him a happy birthday, I was shocked to learn he passed in December. I am so sorry for your loss. Isaac and his family lived next door to me and my family in Herndon Homes. Such memories of long ago neighbors. He sought me out on Archer's Classmate.com. We shared stories about his mother, Miss Evelyn, and little sister Rosalind. He also shared pictures of his family he was so proud of. I was hoping to meet him again but I guess I'll have to wait until it's my time. God bless all of you.

I am very saddened by the death of Issac. Not very long ago, he reminded me that he escorted me during our Homecoming celebration many years ago. Issac was truly a man for all seasons. My prayers are with Clara and the Gates family. May Issac rest in blessed memory eternal.

My memories of Isaac are all pleasant. We were baptized at an early age in the same church during the same baptism service. We graduated from high school together. When Isaac entered Morehouse College, I entered the sister school-Spelman College. Isaac was the capable, profesional photographer at my wedding. I shall always remember Isaac as a kind, jolly and christian gentleman. Clara and family,
It's hard to understand why people are taken from us, but find comfort in knowing you were a special part of such a well lived life. Ike was a wonderful person with a good heart. I never will forget how the two of you blessed me when I got married. He was my photographer and then you all came and he hung my first drapes. Clara, I was devastated to hear of Issac's passing. Although that was my first time meeting him, I will always remember the moments we where shared on Friday night. We soooo miss you "Unlce Jr". Its hard for reality to set in and accept that you will no longer capture our expressions on camera, you would say the camera took what it saw, you just went in and polished it up. To accept that my unborn daughter, whom you said "My job isnt to know the sex, my job is to just spoil them." will not have the earthly pleasure of hearing you share your practical knowledge. Thats what you said 20 minutes before you answered God's call to join Him in Heaven. You joined the United States Marines in your earlier days - and now you answered the call to join the Saints in Heaven. I only had the JOY of knowing you for about 5 years, when you welcomed me into the Gates family on one simple question "Do you like Banana Pudding?" My answer "Eeewww No!" you said "Well welcome to the family!" Meaning it would leave more for you to eat! We embrace you Aunt Clara, Kevin, Tiffany, Shawn, and we can never know your pain Erin. However we Pray for you all, we pray for Healing, and we pray for Comfort and Peace in the Lord. Uncle Jr would probably say "Dont waste all that water (tears) for me!" He left lasting memories and lasting "quotes" whereas Mr. Isaac Gates Jr. will never be forgotten......
