Lee Giesecke Obituary

GIESECKE (Alcorn), Lee Dees

Lee Dees Giesecke, 78, passed away on January 23, 2025. She was known as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as, generous friend, and inspiring civic and business leader. A longtime resident of Dunwoody, Georgia, she was married to John H. Giesecke since 2000. She was born October 5, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Imelda Wineman and William Alcorn.

After graduating from the University of Memphis in 1968, she began a 27-year career with IBM, retiring in 1995. From 1995 to 2010, she served as CEO of The Atlanta Women's Commerce Club and in more recent years she was a dedicated member of the Dunwoody Woman's Club.

In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Geoff Knapp; and grandsons, Erik and Kevin Knapp.

In lieu of flowers, the family offers two favored causes for memorial gifts: The Flo Bruns Scholarship Fund at Kennesaw State University (https://bit.ly/FloBruns) and Georgia WIN List, which helps elect women to public office (https://www.gawinlist.com/honory-and-memorial-gifts/).
