1928 - 2014

STONE, Jr., Matthew R. Matthew R. "Buzz" Stone of Union City, GA passed away peacefully on November 14, 2014 one mile from his birthplace in Red Oak. Buzz was born March 14, 1928. He worked at Delta for 43+ years and retired in April 1989 as the Superintendent of ATL Fueling. Buzz served honorably in the US Army. He was a Boy Scout leader with his influence being felt by many young men. He was very active and served faithfully at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church where he taught adult and youth Sunday School and he served on numerous occasions as Chairman of the Administrative Board. His hobbies included deer hunting and golf. Buzz is survived by his wife, Geraldine, of 64 years; daughters, Sybil (Terry) Weitzel of Newnan, Sheryl (Jimmy) Rexrode of Peachtree City; son, Mark (Melanie) Stone of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Stephanie (Xavier) Bignon of Alexandria, VA., Stephen Matthew (Courtney) Weitzel of Peachtree City, Jessica and Jenny Rexrode of Peachtree City, Tim Stone of Boone, NC; great grandson, Benjamin Matthew Weitzel; many loving nieces & nephews. Service to be held at Dogwood Church in Tyrone on Saturday Nov. 22, 2014. (Visitation at 10:30AM, memorial service at noon.)
