Family-Placed Death Notice

HEAD, Mildred MILDRED HONEA HEAD Mildred Honea Head, age 90, formerly of Atlanta, died at Willow Run Retirement Home in Greensboro on Friday, February 6, 2009. Born June 18, 1918 in DeKalb County, Georgia to the late David George Honea and Jewel Cleo Lloyd Honea, she graduated from Chamblee High School and Oglethorpe University. She spent forty years with the Atlanta Gas Light Company retiring as Assistant Manager. She was a very active and devoted member of Brookhaven United Methodist Church of Atlanta for over seventy years. Volunteering at church, gardening, cooking, working crossword puzzles and reading were the things she enjoyed doing most. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Head and a sister, Margie Stephens. Survivors include a niece, Jeanne F. McLeod and husband Ramon of Eatonton, GA; a number of great nieces and great nephews who she was like a grandmother to: Mike and Dianne McLeod, Wade and Luanne McLeod, Dawn and John Toole and Laura and David Poland; and 13 great great nieces and great great nephews. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Arlington Cemetery Sunrise Chapel in Atlanta with Rev. Gene Davis and Jeremy Green officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike McLeod, Wade McLeod, David Poland, Joseph McLeod, Christopher Poland and David McLeod. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Brookhaven United Methodist Church, 1366 N.
