Though I did not know Bob, Paul Brickey often spoke highly of him whenever I visited Marietta. My condolences to Bob's wife, and to Paul and Bonnie Brickey, and all those who loved Bob. Sorry for your loss.

Bob was my first friend in life. We met at age 5 and were inseparable for the next 15 years. He was the least judgmental, most generous person I've ever known. We grew up in what we thought was a very ordinary time in a very ordinary neighborhood, with very ordinary friends. My conclusion, after spending the weekend with many of these folks gathered for Bob's memorial, is that the time and the place may well have been ordinary, but the people were very special. Fifty something years after we all started hanging out together--camping, playing music, exploring the city--each one of this band of brothers is all that you could want in a friend. and it's a tribute to just how special bob was that they all eagerly gathered to pay tribute to him on a suitably cold, wet, grim february afternoon. Bob was as good a friend and as good a guy as anyone could be.
My deepest sympathy to Donna, who couldn't have taken any better care of Bob, and to his two brothers, Bill and Mike, who, like the rest of us, have lost someone special.

I moved from Ocala, Florida in January 1968 to transfer to UGA. I got married to a Georgia Girl on September 5, 1969. We could not afford a honeymoon, so we went to Athens two weeks before classes began. Bob Veatch was my neighbor in a small quadraplex apartment. We found that we had much in common and he has been one of my very best friends since. Although he has moved around the world a lot, we were always willing to make the trip to see each other, whether it was from Mississippi State where I had my first teaching job, to Coleman, Alabama where he lived during his Graduate work at Tuscaloosa. We were even privlidged to visit him and Donna in Brey, England where he worked for Coke. Bob was honestly the least vindictive person that I have ever known. We were both lucky enough to live and work in Atlanta since his return from his overseas positions and I we are lucky to be Bob and Donna's Neighbor in Marietta. Bob will always live with all of his friends and family

Being with my husband was the greatest gift life has offered me. Bob took me around the world. He filled my heart with love. He taught me patience, tolerance ,and perseverance and he gave me strength to get through lifes' trials and tribulations. I feel the power of his love surround me as I face the days ahead in hope that he would be proud of his handiwork as he smiles down on all of us from the Heavens. I thank each of you for your rememberances and I know he would too.

Bob was a dear friend and even served in our wedding. Unfortunately we didn't see enough of each other. Our thoughts and prayers are with Donna and the rest of the family. It's good to know Bob can finally breath easily.

Bob Veatch was my good friend throughout Garden Hills Elementary and North Fulton High School. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Bob’s family and share a few memories.
Bob, John Huey, and I were inseparable from first grade until we graduated and Bob and John went to UGA and I went to FSU. The three of us were together in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Explorers, each of us achieving Eagle Scout together. We routinely did weekend wilderness camping and during the summers worked together at Bert Adams Scout Camp.
We were together in the NFHS marching band where Bob and John were drummers and I played the Sax. Since Bob and my birth dates were very close together, our parents arranged a joint school-wide skating party at the Atlanta Roller Skating Rink for our twelfth birthday – a day I will always remember.
At Bert Adam camp, when I dove deeply into the shallow end of the swimming pool, Bob and John diligently performed first aid to stop the blood gushing from my head before I was taken to the hospital. For this I will be forever grateful.
During our high school years, Bob, John, and I formed a rock and roll band, the Allusions, which played at high school dances throughout the Atlanta area from 1964 through 1966. Bob on the drums provided the rhythm and the beat that made the music work.
In Bob’s memory I have created a web page with memorabilia from the Allusions including original recordings featuring Bob on the drums -- http://www.BillNolia.com/Veatch.

I worked for Dr. Veatch for 15yrs., he was such a special person, and Mrs. Veatch was one of the most beautiful women ever. I was so sorry to hear of Roberts' passing. I remember fondly both of the sons coming into the office in the Howell House. I am only a couple of years older and I always thought they were so handsome.God bless his family, I am sure was a wonderful family man.
