Robin BERRY Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

BERRY, Robin ROBIN REID BERRY Robin Berry, 75, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia with his family by his side. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 1:00-4:00 PM at Cherokee Town Club, 155 W. Paces Ferry Rd. NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30305. Robin Reid Berry, the son of James and Carrie Berry, was born July 11, 1937 in Augusta, Georgia. During World War II, the Berry family moved to Union, South Carolina, where Rob grew up and became an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow. He graduated with honors from Clemson University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked briefly for Northrup and Lockheed. After leaving Lockheed, he earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. Rob eventually moved to Atlanta and met the love of his life, Sandra McLees. They married in 1968 and had four children. After beginning his career in real estate, Rob and Fred Freyer formed Berry & Freyer Land Company. Rob later established R. R. Berry Realtors, a real estate development company, where he developed and owned several apartment buildings, office and retail buildings around the Atlanta area and in Anderson, South Carolina. Rob's many hobbies included woodworking and exercise. He was a talented artist who handcrafted numerous masterpieces, such as his beautiful Windsor chairs, musical instruments, children's toys and the beloved family screened porch. Rob passed his creativity on to his children and helped them make several of their own projects in his basement wood shop. Always a strong believer in fitness, Rob played both golf and tennis throughout his adult life. But his biggest passion (other than ice cream) was spending time with his family. Rob is survived by his wife, Sandra Berry; his four children and their spouses: Bonnie and Nick Kavali, Katy Berry, Brandon Berry, Jim and Julia Berry; his grandchildren: Sydney and Hayley Buckley, Reid Berry, Jack and Colt Kavali; sister Barbara Peterson, brothers Jimmy Berry and Peter Berry; and a home full of his treasured wooden creations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the following: CANCER RESEARCH INSTITUTE (800) 992-2623 http://www.cancerresearch.org/give/memorial.html

Dear Sandra, I so enjoyed being with you and Rob and the children when you invited me to photograph your beautiful family many years ago. Rob was a delightful gentleman, but I didn't know about his many accomplishments and talents, so well described in the paper.

Dear Sandra and family,
It is with great sadness I received the news of Rob's passing. He was my first roommate in the "Homes" I still remember him walking down the building and dating you. It was thru him that my life in Atl became bearable.
Not knowing anyone when I moved there he was a prince in helping me meet people--especially the ladies!
When I would come home from a date he would always ask the same question
"Bob is she digging your action"
(when I say that to my own girls they look at me like I'm in a time warp!)
Of course ,it was as he was looking up from his ever present bowl of ice cream. May God be with you all during this trying time. You all shall always treasure fond memories of a great man. Bob Fabacher
