In 1993, Leigh and I bought the house next to Roger and Fannie Lou Butler. The house seller (whose name I forget) said to me "You are getting the best neighbors one could possibly get." This really struck me because he had been the Butler's neighbor for less than a year. However, he was right. Roger became a true friend and wonderful neighbor. My wife and Fannie Lou became, a continue to be, best friends. But since this is about Roger, I simply state that he was more than a friend and neighbor, He was one of the kindest men I have ever met. I miss him, but am conforted by the wonderful memories we created.

Roger Butler, a great husband, father, grandfather, friend his whole life. Roger had a keen wit & shared his humor with all & that sometimes hid a quiet wisdom & keen perception which he shared unselfishly. Roger was an exceptional salesman an a
very successful business man. Roger is truly one of a kind & an honor to have known him. God speed on your final journey Roger

Uncle Roger, you will be missed by many. We have only a few memories together but they are all happy, fun-loving, cherished memories. God welcomes you into His loving arms in the name of his Son Jesus Christ. Your memory lives on eternally through your smile, chuckle, kindness, generosity and love for others. We will see each other again and I look forward to that celebration. Loving thoughts to all of you. May you have peace, comfort in each other. Love and Light, Karin Sue

It is a treat to know Roger. I met Roger about 48 years ago when my sister Margaret became friends with Sara. Our families became friends. Roger had a way to make you feel special and loved. I learned about jalapeños, grilling, and cooking. Together with Fannie Lou they practiced hospitality and welcomed us into their home and lives. Along with my parents, Roger and Fannie Lou are who Mickey and I strive to be like when it comes to opening our home and entertaining friends. Our lives are enriched because we knew Roger. He will be dearly missed.

I really don’t know where to begin. Roger was so funny, dad like, caring and sometimes ask father like questions. I cared for him like a father. I learned to be fun funny and sincere and to water ski!! I picked a husband that always gets his shirts pressed. I always noticed that in Roger. Between Roger and Fannielou, three of the nicest children were raised. Knowing them all but one to be my lifetime friend , Sara. What a legacy. I can only pray that I would come close. Job and life well done!! Will miss you but never forget you! Love Margaret

In 1993 when my wife and I bought the house next to Roger and Fannie Lou, the seller told us that his neighbors, the Butlers, were the BEST. We found out later that those sellers had been the Butler's neighbor for less than 2 years. We lasted as neighbors for much longer and remained close friends for 27 years and they wee the BEST. Roger was the BEST. A wonderful man, a wonderful friend, a one of a kind. love you, Roger.
