Virgil Nation Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

VIRGIL BEASON NATION, JR. It is with tremendous sadness combined with great joy that our family announces the passing of Virgil Beason Nation, Jr., from this life into the next. His body was cremated. He suffered from congestive heart failure and end stage renal disease for many years. His passing was both peaceful and powerful. He was born on June 18, 1937, the son of the late Mrs. Ruby Crowley Nation and Mr. Virgil Beason Nation, both of Maben, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and the Emory Candler School of Theology. His greatest joys in life came from being a father and a grandfather. He was preceded in death by a grandson, William Robert Wiley Nichols. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Susan Wofford Nation, a brother, James L. Nation and five children including, Stephen Carter Nation, Emily Cunningham and husband, Steve; Virginia Subers and husband, Jay; Kimberly Nichols and husband, Dan; and Susan Callahan and husband, Derrick. Other survivors include his grandchildren who were his treasures. They include: Tanner and Chad Subers; Bennett Nichols; Chandler, John and Elizabeth Cunningham, and Ashby Callahan. A private family memorial is planned for early January. Friends who wish may send memorials either to Unity Christ Center, 3474 Scales Road, N.W., Suwanee, GA 30024 or to the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children, 1835 Savoy Drive, Chamblee, GA 30341.
