Robert Fugazi Obituary

Judge Robert
Andrew Fugazi
12/9/1920 - 4/29/2009

Robert was born and raised in Stockton, Calif., to Molly (O'Connell) and Andrew Fugazi. He graduated from UC Berkeley and Hastings Law School. He married Marilyn Dederick of Nap in 1943 and had three children, Kent, Bob and Lynann. Robert served in the Navy in World War II and the Korean War. In 1962, he was officially elected as the only Judge of the Tahoe Judicial Court (he was appointed in 1961.) He was re-elected every six years until he retired from the court in 1986. He also served as a part-time circuit court judge for the state in 33 counties and 75 courts from 1975-1990. He will be honored in a future exhibit of the history of Placer County Courts to be located at the historic Courthouse. He was described as a "gentle judge: and prided himself on approaching each case and defendant individually and with fairness.
Following cremation under the direction of The Nautilus Society, his ashes will be scattered in Lake Tahoe. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Placer County SPCA.
