Georgine Davis Obituary

VERMILION, Ohio < Georgine M. "Jean" Davis (nee McKee), 87, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at her home after a three-year illness. She was born June 1, 1921 in Rockwood, Tenn. She lived in Memphis until moving to Amherst in 1959. She had been a Vermilion resident since 1962. She devoted most of her life to her family, but during World War II worked at Fisher Aircraft as a riveter. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vermilion. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, reading, crossword puzzles and playing bunco. She is survived by her daughter, Bobbye (Garry) Goodwin of Cato; seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Davis on March 1, 1983; her parents, Alice (nee Carroway) and John McKee; a daughter, Rhonda Conner in 1993; five sisters; and two brothers. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m., at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion. The Rev. Donald Resecker, pastor of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday, August 19, in Memphis National Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.
