William C. Large
Dec. 16, 1932 - Jan. 24, 2024
FLEMING - William C. Large, 91, the husband of the late Mary Byrne Large, of Fleming, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at his home.
Born in Fleming on December 16, 1932, Bill was the son of the late George L. and Julia M. (Speed) Large. He married his love, Mary Byrne Large February 13, 1954, prior to serving his country in the United States Army and with the National Guard following his honorable discharge from active service.
He was civically minded and involved in the community as a member of Fleming No. 2 Volunteer Fire Department, Union Springs School Board and Antique Tractor Club. He was a Fleming Town Assessor, served on the Zoning Board and was a member of the Second Baptist Church.
In addition to the family farm, William worked at Remington, Singer and was a bus driver for Union Springs Schools. He could be found wearing his John Deere suspenders or bib overalls while doing what he loved: driving his antique or John Deere tractors and driving his Ford King Ranch pickup truck, all while donning a good cigar to chew, not smoke.
He is survived by his daughters: Donna Caruana (Mark), Diane Franklin (Mike), Darlene Dwyer (Randy), Darcy Cheney (Larry) and Denise Boglione (David); grandchildren: Stan Cuff (Karen), Alan Cuff (Erin), Melanie Conklin, Jennifer Caruana, Jada Goulette, Samantha Atwater, Randy Dwyer, Jr., Johnathan Dwyer (Meghan), Jennifer Townes, Lindsey Driscoll (Gideon), Mark Boglione (Goldie) and Michael Boglione (Jamie); great-grandchildren: Maggie, Mary Grace and Taylor Cuff, Dylon Conklin, Alex, Jayla, Pasley, Mia and Lucey Dwyer, Evan Townes, Abbie Rose and Andrew Boglione and Nicholas and Everett Boglione; siblings: Jackie Pethybridge (Ronnie), Lenard Large (Clair) and Richard Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George Large and Julia "Betty" Pineau; as well as his wife, Mary; William is predeceased by a brother, Donald Large; and a half-brother, Gordon Murphy.
The Large family wishes to express their deepest appreciation and love, to the private care givers, who made it possible to fulfill the wish of both of their parents to stay in their home until their journey to heaven. You are like a second family, and they are most grateful to have you.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life on The Large Family Farm, Saturday, July 13, 2024 at a time to be announced.
Arrangements are with White Chaple Funeral Home, Inc., 197 South St., Auburn.

Bill was a great guy...he came to my house and climbed down my dug well to fetch a rabbit...I've told that story to all my buddies...I'll never forget that...

So sorry for your loss. Bill and Mary were our neighbors for many years. in fact, my husband, Bob Sanders, and bill grew up together, sliding down the hill on Delaney Road in the winter among other things.
