Funeral services for Nadine M. Kilworth, 77, were conducted by Pastor Glen Meyer on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Exira Christian Church in Exira. Interment was in the Exira Cemetery in Exira. The honorary casket bearers were LaVon Christensen, Lamont Christensen, Daniel Christensen, Larry Littlefield, John Littlefield, Patrick Littlefield, Arnold Bintner, and Darrell Munch. Special casket bearers were her granddaughters Kelsey Henry, Grace Kilworth, Emily Kilworth, Lauren Kilworth, and great-granddaughter Skylar Elizabeth Paige Jensen. Casket bearers were her grandsons Dustin Jensen, Joshua Jensen, Michael Kilworth, Matthew Kilworth, Christopher Kilworth, Samuel Kilworth, and Kaeden Kilworth. Kessler Funeral Home in Exira was in charge of the arrangements.
Nadine Marie Kilworth, the daughter of Leonard and Neitha (Dorsey) Andersen, was born Jan. 20, 1938, near Atlantic. She died Aug. 29, 2015, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., at the age of 77 years, 7 months, and 9 days.
Nadine was baptized on April 19, 1960, at the Exira Christian Church. She attended rural school near Exira, graduating from Exira High School in the Class of 1956. Nadine was employed at Van's Chat and Chew in Atlantic, as a bookkeeper.
On Oct. 5, 1958, she was united in marriage to Walter Alan Kilworth at the Exira Christian Church. In this union four children were born: Thomas, Cindy, Lonn, and Timothy. Walter and Nadine farmed Southeast of Exira where she helped operate the farm, raised chickens, and produced a large vegetable garden. They moved off the farm and into Exira in 1991. Nadine was a member of the Exira Christian Church where she taught Sunday school, helped with bible school and the fall supper. She was also a member of the Christian Women Fellowship of the church. Nadine assisted with the blood drives, meals on wheels, and at the voting polls during elections. She enjoyed spending time with her neighborhood club the "Merry Meeters". Nadine often brought meals to the farm during planting and harvest. She was an avid reader, liked sewing and knitting, and tending to her flower garden. But, most of all, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Walter passed away on Nov. 26, 2011. Nadine continued to spend time with her family and enjoyed her home in Exira.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband Walter, were her parents Leonard Andersen and Neitha Andersen Littlefield, her stepfather Lonnie Littlefield, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Alonzo and Sadie Kilworth, and her brother-in-law Hugh Hollis.
Survivors include her children Thomas and wife Silvie Kilworth of Thornton, Colo., Cindy Kilworth of Exira, Lonn and wife Denise Kilworth of Exira, and Timothy and wife Angie Kilworth of Waverly; her grandchildren Kaeden Kilworth of Thornton, Colo., Dustin and wife Capri Jensen and their daughter Skylar Elizabeth Paige Jensen of Englewood, Colo., Joshua and wife Mary Jensen of Boston, Mass., Kelsey Henry of Exira, Michael Kilworth of Exira, Matthew Kilworth of Exira, and his special friend Lindsay Best of Iowa City, Christopher Kilworth of Exira, Lauren, Grace, Samuel, and Emily Kilworth all of Waverly; her brothers and sisters Nancy and husband LaVon Christensen of Kirkman, Leroy and wife Cathy Littlefield of Strawberry Point, Larry and wife Judy Littlefield of Glidden, Cheryl and husband Jerry Christensen of Neola; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Darrell and wife Viola Kilworth of Exira, and Doris Anne and husband John Byrne of Eugene, Ore.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
