It is extremely difficult to hear news as this especially when the person is an angel from Heaven. Ms. Leen (me and my siblings called her) was one of the most down to earth people with Christ leading the way. That laugh is what I will miss the most. I pray God will continue to comfort the family and her friends.

Arleen was the first person I met during my employment at Georgia Regional Hospital. Arleen was kind, funny, always willing to help me, and offer encouragement. She showed such a loving interest in my four children. Arleen and I continued our enjoyable conversations even when I moved from Georgia to Tennessee. My family and I will truly miss her! Our sincere condolences.

To the entire Hughes Family, Heaven truly has gained another beautiful soul. I've known Arleen since high school at Hephzibah. We reconnected years later at her church home, Spring Grove, as born-again sisters in Christ. She was still the same Arleen, always fresh, bubbly, & spirited. God only made one like her. I will miss my friend & I know you all will miss her most.
May the God of all comfort be with you today & all the days ahead. Love you, praying for you all. For His Glory,
Sis. Melane Threats

Our hearts are saddened, but we are comforted by these words: " Comfort ye one another; just as I have comforted YOU in days, past and gone." God is a very present help in the time of need. We, thank the family for allowing Alliance to be a part of this phenomenal life in where Ms. Arleen Hughes accepted us with open arms as we created memorable moments. Mrs. Bernice Hughes and Betty, we thank you for your graciousness and we will continue to be present.

I´ve been trying to process losing you and I just can´t. I cannot recall a time in my life that you weren´t present. Recitals, Graduations, College Move in, Delta, Birthdays, Holidays, the birth of my kids, I could go on and on but it wasn´t only special occasions. I can remember coming home from school and how excited I would be when I saw your car. Most especially on Fridays because we was going to Pizza Hut lol. You always said I was so nosy because I would sit on the couch in between you and momma to listen to y´all conversations. Miss Thang is what you affectionately called me I owned that name! lol You was more than a Godmother, you was a second mom to Jereel and I. You NEVER missed a beat and we loved you dearly for that. When we spoke on Saturday, I definitely didn´t think it would be the last time. Only God knew the plans but I just wish I knew time was running out. Continue to watch over us... Love you always Aunt Leen

Arleen was my first cousin. It’s such a shock that she’s gone and she’s terribly missed. She was so funny, kind, and helpful. Such a giving, unselfish, and humble person, never thinking of herself. I’m sorry my sister Peggy and I won’t be able to attend the service but our thoughts and prayers are with our Hephzibah/Augusta family. May God bless and give strength to us all.
