U.S. Army Retiree Kimberly Clark Retiree AUGUSTA, Ga. - Ret. SSG John W. Whitehead, Sr. of Wallace Street entered into rest Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at 1:00 pm at the Bicentennial Chapel, Ft. Gordon with Rev. J. R. Hatney officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Garden. Mr. Whitehead was a native of Calhoun Co. Ga., retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service, retired employee of Kimberly Clark. He was a member of the Twenty-Five Gents, American Legion, and former member the Dozen. Survivors are three daughters, Linda Whitehead, Lithonia, Ga., Senora Whitehead, Hampton, Ga. Lenore Whitehead (Sam) Whaley, Augusta; one son, John Whitehead, Jr., Augusta; one sister, Laura Wilson, Ft. Pierce, FL; two brothers, Edward Whitehead, Atlantic Beach, FL and Freddie (Delores) Whitehead, St. Petersburg, FL; mother-in-law, Mary Wakefield, Arlington, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Christopher Whitehead, Germany, Brandon Whitehead, Lithonia, Ga., Courtney Whitehead, Hinesville, Ga., Bryan Whitehead, Augusta, Ga., Frank Whitehead, Augusta, Ga., Jonathan Whitehead, Flovilla, Ga., Corey Whaley, Augusta, Ga.; six sisters-in-law; devoted friend, Lillie Anthony, Augusta; and a host of other relatives and friends.
