Bramblett, Ph.D. AUGUSTA, Ga. - Dr. Richard Massey Bramblett of Augusta died peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. He leaves his best friend and soul mate, Patricia Tante; his daughters, Amy Bramblett (Martin Rogers) and Cheryl Kortemeier (Karl); his sister, Carol Jean Johnson; his grandchildren, Wren Rogers, Milo Kortemeier and Ollie Kortemeier, and a host of cherished family and friends. Dr. Bramblett was born in 1938 in Savannah, Georgia and graduated from Screven County High School. He earned his Ph.D. from the school of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. He participated in the co-op program with Southern Bell Telephone Company throughout his studies and served as a U.S. Army Lieutenant, completing the officer training course at the Army Chemical Corps School in McClellan, AL in 1962. Richard moved to Augusta, GA in 1967 to take a leadership role in Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) for the Medical College of Georgia. He later joined the staff of Augusta State University ultimately becoming the Associate Dean and Director of Graduate Studies for the College of Business Administration. Additionally, he served on the boards of directors for several health organizations. A self-taught guitarist and ukulelist, Richard brought joy to many with his smooth tenor voice and lively tunes. He enjoyed weekly golf outings with treasured friends as well as hiking, gardening and travel. His favorite destinations included Yosemite National Park, Egypt and scenic "Lake Say-Hi" in Tifton, GA. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed exploring the lakes and ponds of Georgia as well as the rivers of Upper Michigan and Alaska. Richard touched many lives and is remembered by all as a caring, clever and funny soul. He was kind and generous and always made sure his bird feeders were full. It was Dr. Bramblett's wish that everyone who reads this obituary will take time to learn more about the prevention of esophageal cancer at www.ecaware.org. The family will host a celebration of life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Friends of Georgia State Parks at www.friendsofgastateparks.org. Dear Amy and Cheryl,
I remember your dad wowing me with his magic tricks when I would visit them in Newington when I was just a little thing. Y'all were a respite when I was at MCG, some fun and family away from school. Your dad will be missed. Love,

To the Bramblett Family:

I was so saddened to see the passing of Richard. I worked with him at MCG after I joined the faculty. He also shared my love of fishing and took me to the fishing store and helped me pick out some fishing equipment which we later tried out up at the lake. I loved his musical talent and his wonderful personality. He was a great guy and will always be remembered.

He was a good friend for most of my life. I remember when I was about 14 years old, he helped me transport me and my sisters to Fitz Syms photographers to have a surprise picture made of us for my parents. He was happy to be a part of the surprise and fun. He was a good friend and I will miss him.
