Sandra Dixon Obituary

WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Sandra "Joan" Dixon, 54, entered into rest Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the Medical College of Georgia. She was born in Waynesboro on December 13, 1954 to the late Charles Nick DeLaigle and Leila Skinner DeLaigle Wilson. She was a life-long resident of Burke County where she was a homemaker and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janice DeLaigle, and a granddaughter, Makayla Rickerson. She is survived by her husband, Charles Dixon; two sons, Michael Shane Rickerson (Teresa) and Franklin Sheley Dixon, both of Waynesboro; two brothers, Donald Wilson (Sherry) and Nicky DeLaigle, both of Waynesboro; four sisters, Faye Horton of Thomson, GA, Lisa Thomas (T.C.), Linda Ryle, both of Hephzibah, and Kitty Quick of Waynesboro; two grandsons, Shane Austin Rickerson and Dustin Rickerson; stepfather, Frank Wilson of Waynesboro; aunt, Betty Jean Royal (Otis) of Sardis; step-granddaughter, Brianna Bell; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 8, at DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, at Bethany United Methodist Church, Girard, GA. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cleve Royal, Jr., Bobby Perry, Joey Frazier, Chris Farrer, Evan Mobley, J. R. Hornsby, Wade Skinner, and Jeffrey Thaxton. Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Mobley, Henry Glisson, R. L. Flakes, Stan Hillis, Sidney Williams, and Tom Weeks. The family and pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church by 2:30 p.m. on Monday. DeLoach-McKerley Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 842 N.
