William Blount Obituary

U.S. Navy Veteran AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. William A. Blount of Augusta entered into rest Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Mausoleum with Rev. J.L. Stokes officiating. Mr. Blount was a native of Richmond County, Ga.; joined Jordan Grove Baptist Church; a graduate of Lucy Craft Laney High School in 1962; a 20 year Veteran of the United States Navy and was awarded Honorary Dolphin Medals for his courageous service as a Submariner; a former employee of Grace Wood State Hospital and worked at the V.A. Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry (Harry) and Corine Blount; son, William Blount, III and brother, Henry (Spark) Hammonds. Survivors are his wife, Patricia Robinson Blount; father-in-law, Harold (Gail) Robinson; three daughters, Dianne Tenney, Tonya (Levon) Freeman and Sherrilyn Williams; three sons, Richard Blount, William A. (Beulah) Blount, Jr., Andrew (Harrietta) Blount; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma (Herbert) Lynch; five sisters-in-law, Anreita Hammonds, Daisy Williams, Audrey (Bobby) Walker, Linda Robinson and Sherry (Russell) Jones; two brothers-in-law, Rodney (Deborah) Robinson and Billy Robinson; devoted grandson, Calvin Williams, Jr.; devoted nephew, Russell Jones, III and devoted friend, John Rhoney. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2009 from 6 to 7 p.m. Williams Funeral Home, 1765 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

Uncle William will be missed. Our condolences go out to my Aunt Patricia and the rest of his family. I wish we were there in person to pay our respects, but afar we keep all in prayer. His navy stories and antics will be missed and always make me smile.
