William Dunaway Obituary
A lifelong resident of the Augusta area, Mr. Dunaway was a devout Christian and charter member of Bethlehem Advent Christian Church, where he served as deacon, moderator, treasurer, choir member, soloist and song leader. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.
Family members include his children: Price Dunaway (Pam), Pam Bonner (Carl), and Sullivan Dunaway; grandchildren: Wes Dunaway, Kate Sanders (Reid), Tyler Bonner (Sara), Will Dunaway, Russell Bonner (Kyleah), Kylee Zahner (Trevor), and Jermel Bennett; great grandchildren: Elizabeth Dunaway, Vance Dunaway, Copeland and Miles Sanders, Emma and Evelyn Bonner, Blakelee Singleton; and a sister: Betty D. Lee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Canaday Dunaway.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Nathan Dean and Rev. Joe Pritchett officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Advent Christian Church, 1815 Central Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.
The family will receive friends Sunday prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484. Please sign the guestbook at www.thomaspoteet.com

My heart is heavy. I've lost a dear friend. Billy and I were close buddies since we were teens. We sang together when we were very young and later in life we worked together to keep our "Classmates of the Forties" connected. He has a very special place in my heart that will remain forever.
