Bolster, Charles Lloyd Of Cupertino, CA, formerly of Sugar Grove, IL, passed away on March 8, 2012. He was born October 28, 1931 in Sugar Grove, IL and lived in several U.S. and overseas locations. On the maternal side of his family, he was great-great grandson of the McDole family, founders of Sugar Grove. On the paternal side he was the great-great grandson of Artemus Bolster who homesteaded Indian land at what is now the South East corner of Dugan and Wheeler Road. The farm hosted 7 generations of Bolsters until it was absorbed by the Aurora Airport in 1994. He was one of the 2 last graduates of Sugar Grove High School before it was folded into the Kaneland consolidation of Southern county high schools. He graduated from the University of Illinois and the U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School in 1953. He served 40 months as a Naval officer in the Pacific during the Korean War and later in the Atlantic fleet and the Navy Cryptography Center in Washington D.C. Chuck worked the majority of his life in agri business divisions of chemical and pharmaceutical companies including Pennwalt, Abbott Laboratories and Syntex Pharmaceuticals where he retired as V.P.G.M. for the Far East and Canadian Regions. After his retirement he consulted for several companies and founded Ledgetek Limited, a service company in the Philippines that he ran with his wife Rose and her brothers. Chuck dabbled in a wide variety of interests including his Fraternity, Alpha Sigma Phi, golf, tennis, fishing and hunting, his prime interest of all. He hunted from 8 years old until his passing, primarily pheasant, quail and dove. In retirement he had a "ranchette" in a fairly remote area of the Central coast range west of King City, CA where deer and birds were plentiful, the air pristine and the joy of solitude absolute. He is survived by his wife Rose and son Daniel in Cupertino; his son Bryan (Kate) and grandsons Gil and Mitchell and his daughter Brooke (Fritz), all of whom live in Oregon. He also is survived by three nieces Terri, Sarah and Becky all of whom live in suburban Chicago. He also has a great niece Caitlynn in Noblesville, Indiana. He has 6 brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law plus their children living in the Philippines. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Doris Bolster, twin brothers who died at birth, sister Shirley, brother Lyle (Julie) and all of his aunts, uncles and cousins and one nephew Michael. Funeral services will be held Saturday 12:00 p.m. March 24, 2012 at The Healy Chapel 370 Division Dr. Sugar Grove. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
