Daniel, Archie
84, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on December 20, 2013. Archie was born December 26, 1928, in Springhill, Texas. He moved to Greenlee County from DeKalb, Texas, after serving four years in the Air Force. Archie met his wife Barbara in Duncan and they were married on July 1, 1950. He lived there and in Morenci while Archie worked for Phelps Dodge for 32 years. He retired from PD in 1982 and from Arizona State University in 1993 at which time they moved to Safford. Archie is survived by his children: Cheryl Van Wye, Hanford, California; Jim (Shelly) Daniel, Avondale, Arizona; Diana (Aaron) Keller, Globe, Arizona; Connie (Kirk) Hooper, Mesa, Arizona; and Cathy (David) Brunson, Buckeye, Arizona; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and his sisters Pat Warner and Sandy Daniel, Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was the best husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend anyone could ask for. We were blessed he was given to us to touch and influence our lives. We will miss his strength, wit, funny stories, and helpful nature every day of our lives. A memorial service will be held for Archie on Saturday, January 4, 11 a.m. at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel, 112 East Main Street, Safford, Arizona.
