Ellis Kemp. God saw Ellis was getting tired and a cure was not to be. After courageously fighting against Alzheimer's for 13 years God put his arms around Ellis and whispered come with me. On December 26, 2003 a golden heart stopped beating and his hard working hands were put to rest. Ellis Kemp was born on December 25,1927 in Okmugee, Oklahoma to the proud parents of Parker and Irene Kemp. Ellis affectionally known as Kemp, High pockets, Papal, Honey moved to Phoenix in 1945. He was educated in the Phoenix School District and attended Carver High school. He was employed with Avis Rent A Car for twenty-nine years. Ellis was enthusiastic, outgoing, always had a good spirit and never treated anyone as a stranger. If you had a nickname, you probably got it from Ellis. He loved to talk, sing, dance, fish and visit family and friends. Ellis Loved his wife and chridren deeply but most of all he was very proud of his grandchildren and spent countless hours with them. Ellis is survived by his loving wife Maryland of thrity-seven years and five children;Ellis Kemp Jr., Marcellus and wife Katrina, Donna Gammage and husband Ronnie, Vinita Lofits and husband Victor, Lisa Kemp; six grandchildren, Ronnie and Stephone Gammage, Anthony, Marcos and Vanessa Bustamante, and Terrance McCarthy. Along with two great-grandchildren: Ellis Bustamante and Jasmine white. He is futher survived by sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Loved by all, he was preceded in death by his parents, Parker and Irene Kemp: two brothers, Roscoe McAllister, John McAllister and one sister katherine Kemp. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Wensday, December 31, at Resthaven Memorial Chapel 4310 E Southern Ave. We would like to thank the staff of Odyssey Hospice Center for their help and support.
