Lloyd Nelson Obituary
Phoenix - Lloyd W. Nelson 83, passed away peacefully May 16, 2018 at his home in Phoenix AZ, after a yearlong battle with leukemia. Born November 11, 1934 in Grasston MN to Manny and Mabel Nelson. Married to Katherine Freer in LaCrosse WI September 22, 1957. He attended school in Grasston MN and joined the Marines in 1951 to serve in the Korean War. Graduated from Bryan Collage and pastored in Dayton and Tennessee Ridge TN and in Phoenix AZ. He started Nelson Equipment in 1978. Lloyd loved playing guitar, banjo and mandolin and teaching that love to others, traveling in his motorhome and visiting with family and friends across America.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Kay Nelson, children, Robin (William) Costner of Colorado Springs, Ronald (Shawna), Rachelle (Douglas) Oberg and Jody (Tim) Evans of Phoenix, AZ, sisters Shirley Anderson and Avis (Gene) Byker of Mora MN, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, the favorite uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, siblings Howard, Reynold and Vahdah Nelson. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of the Valley for their excellent care and support.
A memorial service will be held Saturday May 19, 2018, 10 am at Echo Mountain Church, 19051 N. 20th St., Phoenix, AZ, Dale Farwell officiating.

Lloyd was our Pastor from 5-1975 till we moved as his family's neighbor while at 7425 W. Encanto Blvd. My son Jeff & his daughter Jody were close friends. My son Jeff was ring bearer for Bill & Robin's wedding & Jody was the flower girl. I love you Nelsons and my prayers have always included you all. All my love to your blessed family members. I'll be overjoyed to reunite with everyone in Eternity with Our Lord Jesus.
