Nellie Vasquez Obituary

Vasquez, Nellie Cordova
90, a Phoenix Native, went home to be with the Lord on March 8th, 2013. She was born February 17th, 1923, to Pablo & Agustina Cordova in Phoenix. Nellie lived a wonderful life as a mother, wife, sister and , to many in her later years, "Nana". She was one of the first female bus drivers in Phoenix, and enjoyed driving the children she worked with, until her retirement in 1983. She was well known for her great cooking, her strength, taking care of her family , and above all, her kindness. She would always put others before herself. Her faith in her Catholic beliefs were always strong and helped guide her through tough times. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Vasquez; borothers, Albert, Fred, Paul and Ishmael Cordova. She is survived by her children, Arnold (Elizabeth) Ramos. Joey Flores, Therri (Ken) Rice, Ed ( Debbie) Vasquez, and Fred ( Diane) Vasquez; sister, Trini Carrillo: along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. The Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, with a 6:30 Rosary, Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Lowmans Arizona Funeral Home, 717 W. Dobbins Rd., Phoenix, AZ. The Funeral Mass will begin promptly at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 14th, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 6200 S. Central Ave., PHoenix, AZ. Burial to follow at St. Frances Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Lowmans Arizona Funeral Home, Inc.
