Peggy Gee Obituary

Peggy Big Chuen Gee

Phoenix - Peggy Big Chuen Gee, age 88, of Phoenix, AZ, peacefully went with the Lord on March 10, 2021, after a courageous, seven year battle with dementia.

Loving and dedicated wife of Jaime Shui Keung Gee. She is survived by her husband and their three children, Joyce Lew (Randy), Angela Gee, and Tommy Gee (Linda) as well as their four grandchildren, Bryon Lew (Amy), Evan Lew (Cici), Ashtyn Gee, and Aidan Gee and their four great-grandchildren.

Peggy was born on July 29, 1932 to Tang Kai Sum and Po Kuk Kung, in Toisan, Guangdong province, China, the third of eight children. She immigrated to the US in 1963. Then in 1965, Peggy met Jaime at First Chinese Baptist Church Phoenix and were blessed to be happily married for 55 years, together through thick and thin.

Despite Peggy's minimal education as a middle girl in a poor Southern Chinese family, all her children and grandchildren graduated from the University of Arizona or Arizona State University. Her second youngest is currently a Wildcat and her youngest will matriculate at Johns Hopkins University in August 2021.

Peggy would greet you with a big smile, hug, and hospitality. Always humble, and relaxed; Peggy had a quiet, content yet feisty personality. She was the most attentive and thoughtful lady.

Peggy's vim, vigor, and vitality were exhibited in her roles as a hardworking daughter, wife, mother, restaurateur, seamstress, caregiver, and amateur mahjong master. Peggy's favorite hobbies were fine jewelry collection and attending jewelry shows. She was also an aficionado of music, song, foods, and Jack Daniel's.

Family would like to thank the following exceptional medical professionals and special friends for their outstanding care in maintaining Peggy's robust, vibrant life: Kenneth I Levy, MD, Oludare Onisile, MD, Emily Castillo, Purnima Rai, Mike Patterson, and Patrick Okeke, RN.

Private services will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn, Phoenix, AZ.

Joyce, thank you for sending us the link to your mom´s obituary. A sad occasion for sure but her obituary shows that she lived a rich, happy and full life. Her smile must have lit up the room for all generations of her offspring when she entered a room. Her varied work, love of family and her own hobbies reveals that she was obviously a well-rounded person. One thing that caught my eye was that she was a Mahjong Master! That game has been a staple in our household since we installed our first home computer over 30 years ago. I am definitely not a master but I am sure Judith would qualify for the title and be willing to take on a challenge even though Peggy told her it was better to use genuine tiles. Cherish your memories of her always. Hugs!

Love Always,
Ray and Judith

Peggy was such a beautiful soul and I am blessed that she touched my life. She always made me feel like I was part of the family. I met Peggy in 1982 when I first moved into the house next door and became close friends with her daughter Angela. Regardless of how her day was going, she would always take time to give me a big hug and a loving, close-up smile with her beautiful eyes. Her eyes are still shining love in my heart. My deepest condolences to the Gee family.
