Sylvia Tell Varnum Obituary

Varnum, Sylvia Tell
Sylvia Tell Varnum entered eternal life on April 11, 2014 at the age of 78. She is the only daughter of American prima ballerina Sylvia Tell. Raised primarily in Las Vegas, Nevada, she attended high school at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in California. A proud Air Force wife, she is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Col. (Ret) John W. Varnum. She traveled the world extensively, loved horses and dogs, shelling, painting and reading. She volunteered at John C. Lincoln Hospital with her dogs as a pet therapist for many years. She was a strong, moral and upright woman with a devout faith in God and Jesus Christ and passed these lessons on to her three surviving daughters, Sylvia Stresing, Nena Mooney and Teresa Turoski, their husbands, eight surviving grandchildren and six surviving great-grandchildren. A small remembrance service will be held at 4808 W. North Lane, Glendale, AZ at 7:00 PM on Thursday April 17, 2014. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sylvia Tell Scholarship Fund at the Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, 440 St. Katherine Drive, La Canada, CA 91011. It was always a pleasure to see Sylvia at the Rehab she attended. We could talk about baseball, or dogs, or any other subject that would pop-up! I know many of us will miss her.
