Visitation for Charles Elton Joslin will be held April 23, 2003, from 5-8 p.m., at Kern River Family Mortuary Chapel, 1900 N. Chester Ave. Services in chapel at same location April 24, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, River Blvd. and Panorama, Fountain of Chimes Lawn.
Elton lived in Bakersfield for 56 years working as an auto mechanic for Leo Meek Autos, then many years for Bob Doe Oil Well Service and retired in 1986 from SPS.
He was a loving, caring, compassionate person who was never too busy to help family or friends. He will always have a special place in our hearts and will be deeply missed by all. His memory and spirit will be with us forever as we treasure our memories of times shared.
Elton was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Elton and Ethel Irene Joslin, daughter, Patricia Vanderbeek; sisters, Hazel Woneta and Earlene Barron; brothers, Alva Ray and Ruel Lee. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Esther; son, Charles and wife, Beverly; son, Larry and wife, Kathy of Washington; daughter, Barbara and husband, Armando Uribe of Texas; daughter, Karen Thomas of Bakersfield; brother, Melvin and wife, Nita of Bakersfield; sisters, Genelda Peck of Oklahoma City, Maxine Daniel and husband, Eldon of Visalia; Willie Mae Beasley and husband, Lee, Joyce Ferguson and husband, Jim, Melba Upton and husband, Garland; sister-in-law, Faye Joslin, all of Bakersfield; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives who will miss him greatly.
The family would like to especially thank Optimal Hospice for the great care they gave Elton during his illness and request any donations be made to them.
