Darrell Kalar Obituary
Services: Friday, Aug. 30, 1 p.m.
Darrell Poopcee Kalar, 62, of Oceano passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, at Calvary Bible Church in Bakersfield and also at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday on Saturday, September 28, at the Sand and Surf R.V. Park in Oceano.
Mr. Kalar was born August 27, 1939, to Marion and Gladys Kalar who preceded him in death. He served in the United States Navy prior to retiring after 36 years with Bakersfield College and serving as Memorial Stadium manager. He loved working with the kids of Special Olympics and enjoyed being Santa Claus for over 30 years. The last five years he had been on permanent vacation in Oceano.
He leaves behind his wife, Lyn; one daughter, Chris; two sons, Mark and wife, Becky, and Jimmy; grandsons, Jimi and wife, Mandy, and Adam; two great-granddaughters, Colleen and Pollyanna.
