Edna Waldon Obituary

Edna was born in Bakersfield, CA to Edgar and Laura Crane, raised in Shafter, CA. Edna went to be with the LORD in her loving son and daughter-in-law's home in Sierra Vista, Arizona.

The daughter of "Great Depression" migrants, she rode her mother's cotton bag through the fields of Shafter. A survivor of Polio, she taught herself to walk again by building her muscles on a trundle sewing machine, becoming an excellent seamstress. As a young lady, she worked at the local movie theaters and cotton gin office.

She was Valedictorian of Shafter High Class of 1955. Drama, Glee club, and Tap Dancing were her fondest memories.

Edna married Leonard Dale Waldron in Wasco, CA in 1959. They made their first home and raised their children in Shafter, retiring to Sierra Vista in 2000.

Edna began working at Richland School District in 1971, as a classroom aide serving special needs children for 30 years. A long time volunteer for the Kern Adult Literacy Society, she taught both adults and children to read.

She received her Christian Baptism in 1984, becoming a member of the Shafter Church of Christ. In Arizona, she was a member of Christ Community and had also attended Tree of Life and Thunder Mountain.

Also, she co-led a Christian based Chronic Pain Support Group.

Survived by siblings, Jesse Crane, Dorothy (Jim) Loper, Donna Davis, and James (Lauretta) Waldron- all of CA. Her children Shari (Jerry) Ellis of Bakersfield, CA, and Robert (Regina) Waldron of Sierra Vista, AZ. Grandchildren: Rebecca (TJ) Pittman, Jacob (Cassie) Ellis, Rachel (Ed) Zimmermann, Cara Ellis, and four great-grandchildren with one on the way. Edna was preceded in death by her parents: Edgar and Laura Crane, her husband of 55 years, Leonard Dale Waldron, and her brother Edward Crane. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews will mourn her passing.

Services to be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Christ Community Church 2300 Las Brisas Way, Sierra Vista, Arizona 85635. Call (520) 226-0565 for more information.
