1917 - 2003
Mathew Whittington went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2003. A lover of golf, playing up to 6 times a week, he also loved spending time in his yard tending to his flowers and roses. Mathew retired in 1982 from Quinn Machinery Company where he was a heavy equipment mechanic. Mathew served as an Elder for 35 years at the Niles Assembly of God.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Whittington, and a grandson, Scott Whittington. Mathew is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Whittington; son, John Whittington; stepson, Buddy Banks; stepdaughters, Ester Cusac, Sandra Ishmael and Melissa Chavers; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A loving, caring man, Mathew is loved and will be dearly missed by all family and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2003, at 2:30 p.m., at Niles Assembly of God, 1701 Niles Street. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, from 3-7 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hoffmann Hospice.
