Ray Elam Obituary

Ray Elam 1932 - 2010 Ray Elam was born on December 6, 1932, in Ventura, CA. He died on November 8, 2010, at his home in Bakersfield. He was the son of John R. and Junia Bell Elam. The family moved to Bakersfield in 1944. Ray attended and graduated from Kern County Union High School in the class of 1950. He then joined the U.S. Navy to proudly serve in the Korean War. He returned to Bakersfield and went to work for Standard Oil Co. Years later he started his own business, based on his invention of an oilwell lubricator. In 1970 he met and later married Louise Glasser, mother of four children. Ray and his wife Louise were both Christians, members and workers in Canyon Hills Church. Leaving to mourn his passing are his beloved wife, Louise; sister, Alene Duncan of Fresno; brother, Terry of Sparks, NV, sons, Harley, Troy, and Keith of Taft. Others who will miss him are Claire and Don Tierney of Pacific Palisades, CA, Bruce Tierney of Irvine; and numerous step-grandchildren. Also to miss him are Gil Angelo, of this city, and many friends of Canyon Hills Church. Louise's children were very special to him. They are: Mark Glasser of WI, Marcia Malkoun of Tucson, AZ, Joan Centofanti of Los Altos, and Charlotte Glasser-Benepe of New York City. As per his wishes, there will be no services. Ashes to be spread over a favorite spot on the California desert. www.bakersfield.com/obits
