We were fortunate to meet Laini when she came to Michigan to accompany our son Evan to San Francisco. She was a delightful young woman and a great friend to Evan and we loved her dearly, in spite of knowing her such a short time. We are so sorry for your loss. We will never forget Laini.

I only found out about this today, and I am so disappointed to not have been able to attend services to celebrate Laini's life.
I, like many others I think, knew Laini mostly online. She was a constant bright light in that space. The few times I got to spend time with her in person were amazing. She knew how to make the mundane (like a trip to the mall or just walking her dog around DC) memorable. I only wish I'd have been able to see her more.
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I know I don't know you, but how much she loved her family (I loved the pictures!) and friends was so clear in the 'world' where I knew Laini.

When we met in college, Laini was a girl from the city and I was a girl from the country. She helped me appreciate city life and I educated her a bit about country living. Despite every hospital stay and hiatus from college life, Laini always had a fun disposition and a gigantic smile. Laini knew how to be a true friend, which is a quality that is sometimes hard to come by. I think of her often and will certainly never forget her. She was the bravest, most accepting person I know. The world is a darker place without Laini, but my memories of her are filled with the radiance from her glorious smile and annomated facial expressions. Thank you, Laini, for being my friend!

I'll always remember that laugh, and that beautiful Greek-Goddess smile! Having met at Western Maryland College, Laini and I (and all of our friends there) had so many fun times together. She taught me about cool Brit-Boy bands, and always had fun stories about cute 'nerdy' boys. She was certainly the Queen of All That Was Cool and New, and loved to share her thoughts, talents, and energy with all of us. Nobody could 'show off the city' quite like she could-- I remember wild sights and new tastes, fun shows at the Black Cat, and my being impressed with the "Big City Movie Theatre". Certainly a uniquely refreshing soul, I don't think anyone could meet her and walk away without being affected by her sweet kindness, her unstoppable hilarity, or her genuine goodness. I'm grateful for knowing her, for feeling the effects of her presence, and for having her as my friend.
(Thank You Laini. I love you!)

Laini was a pure ray of sunshine in this world. Unique, intelligent, compassionate, creative, side-splittingly hilarious, giving, beautiful, full of love, life and light, she touched so many people's lives and through that her memory and spirit will live on.

Laini was such a perfect match for our daughter Amy. We have always felt that Laini provided not just fun and laughs but also a steady, loyal, caring friendship. She helped teach our daughter what it meant to be a friend on the worst days as well as the best days. Rose and I cannot even fathom the depths of your sorrow, but if it can be any consolation in any way, you did a magnificent job raising a caring, joyous, lovely daughter. Now God has her.

Laini was a dear friend and an amazing person. I met her 9 years ago, when I was only 13 or 14, and she taught me the ways of being cool. Without her, I wouldn't be who I am today. I will miss her so much.
