Helene Segal

Helene Segal (nee Tarta), of Columbia, MD, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the age of 88. She is survived by her devoted children, Mark (Evelyn) Segal, Ellen Segal, Marsha Fauver, Steven Segal (Sarah Johnson, MD); adoring grandchildren, Rebecca (Bryan) Crumpley, Sarah Fauver (Patrick Shaw, partner), Naomi (Max) Looper, Noah Segal (Sydney Weisman, partner), Alexandra Segal, George Segal; and precious great-granddaughters, Isabelle Crumpley, and Gabriella Looper; sister-in-law, Harriet Gross, brother-in-law Bernard Gross, and sister-in-law Barbara Schwartz. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Avrom Carl Segal, MD; brother-in-law, Allan Schwartz, MD; and her loving parents, Ida and Israel Tarta.

Helene Segal was a wonderful and loving wife and mother. She was always there for her husband and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a loving sister-in-law and aunt. She was also a loyal and beloved friend to many throughout her life. Relatively late in life, Helene went back to school and became a nurse, reflecting her intelligence, determination, and endless capacity to care for others. Helene was a trusted confidant for all in her family, known for keeping confidences when asked and always providing boundless love and support. She will be missed and cherished by all who knew her.
