Jane Kelly Morais

The family of Jane Kelly Morais is saddened to announce her death on April 18, 2025 at the age of 89. She was living in Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD. Jane Morais was born in NY,NY. She studied at Skidmore College, where she graduated in 1957. She received her MFA in 1962 from Indiana University. She was a professor of art at Catonsville, Community College in Baltimore from 1972-1999. She was chair of the art department until her retirement. Jane Morais was a working artist her entire life. She has exhibited her work in galleries and museums throughout the east coast, and extensively in Baltimore. Her art is represented in many private and corporate collections. Jane Morais has been a board member of The Maryland Art Place, Pyramid Atlantic and secretary of The Maryland Art Council. She also enjoyed her time working in her garden around her home in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.

Jane Morais is predeceased by her loving partner, Harvey Kirstel. She is also predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Susan Kelly, and her niece Laura Kelly. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Kelly Morais Abramson and David Abramson, and Bennett Morais Cummings and Paul Cummings. She is survived by four grandsons, Alex Abramson, Eli Abramson , Jackson Cummings and Chase Cummings, as well as two nephews , Tom and Bruce Kelly. She will be greatly missed
