Jane Kelly Morais

Dear Jane! ~ An inspiring teacher, generous with her knowledge and a gracious woman. Jane invited me (with the talented paper-sculptor Alan Cohen) to show my drawings and airbrush illustrations at what was then called Catonsville Community College in the 1980´s. What a sparkling, gentle presence she had. I recall Jane and Harvey dancing in my living room, rug rolled back for a party to celebrate my becoming a homeowner. She was so beautiful. May she, and Harvey, rest in peace.

I met Jane Morais when I was a senior at Towson State College in 1969, and she led a course in design for those becoming teachers in majors other than art. Jane Morais required our final course project to be a soft sculpture of a person, and I decided to create a soft sculpture of Viva, an Andy Warhol model and superstar.
