Samuel Henry Nassiff, 82, of Pearland, TX passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013. He was born on January 12, 1931 to Michael Nassiff and Margaret Richardson Nassiff in Jacksonville, FL.
Samuel Nassiff was an aeronautical engineer with over 24 years of service to the NASA Johnson Spacecraft center. His direct involvement was a significant contribution to the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Apollo/Soyus, Skylab, Shuttle, as a design engineer, system analysis, project engineer, and study manager. Specific to the Gemini program he was manager of design ground based simulator and training of the original seven astronauts for flight operations of the Gemini spacecraft from Earth re-entry to touchdown.
He was an active Deacon for 25 years and Sunday school director at Friendswood First Baptist Church. Most recently, he was a member of Sagemont Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, LouAnn Nassiff; sons, Gary Nassiff, wife Marie, Ronald Nassiff; daughter, Cynthia Unger, husband Timothy; grandchildren, Justin Nassiff, wife Jennifer, Tiffany Howe, husband Geoffrey, Kevin Nassiff, Kerby Nassiff, Daniel Nassiff, wife Melissa, Benjamin Unger, fiancé Katerina Wiemers, Thomas Unger; sisters, Dorothy Creden and Virginia Burke; along with many nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200 with Rev. Rex Forsyth and Rev. Dr. Jim Hastings officiating. Interment will follow at Southpark Cemetery in Pearland, TX.
In lieu of usual remembrances, the family request that all cash donations in honor of Sam Nassiff be directed to the Youth Ministry Memorial Fund at Sagement Church, 11300 S. Sam Houston Pkwy E., Houston, TX 77089 or at www.sagemontchurch.org.
