Grace Rash Obituary

HARRINGTON - Grace E. Rash, of Harrington, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at Milford Hospice Center. She was 86. Mrs. Rash worked briefly as a nurses aid in Wilmington in her younger years. She mostly was a homemaker who took great pride in raising her family. She loved her cats, and loved to read and cook. She loved to make homemade chicken and dumplings, which everyone looked forward to eating, as well as her signature coconut cake. Whenever you visited her house, she sat you down to a cup of tea and something to eat. She looked forward to Christmas time as this was the time that the whole family got together. She will be remembered as a sweet and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was very giving. In addition to her parents, George Edgar and Millie Lemmon, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Pearl Teed, Mae Williamson, Marian Pierson, Edna Widdows; and stepson, Kenneth Rash. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, George Rash Sr. of Harrington; daughters, Sharon Melvin of Harrington, Jean Logan of Harrington, Ruby Farmer of Harrington, and Susan Hitchens of Dover; son, Allen Breeding Jr. of Ft Lauderdale, Fla.; stepsons, George Rash Jr. of Wyoming, Phillip Rash of Magnolia, and Ronnie Rash of Dover; sister, Flora Kibler of Newark; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be one hour prior to services and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Milford Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
