Wilbur Leonard Obituary

Leonard, Jr., 67 CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Wilbur Ross Leonard, Jr. of Chestertown, Md. died on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at University of Maryland Medical Center at Chestertown. He was 67. Born on December 4, 1946 in Chesapeake City, Md., he was the son of the late Wilbur Ross Leonard Sr., and Pauline McMullen Leonard of Chestertown, Md. Mr. Leonard attended Queen Anne's County High School, where he played Basketball and Soccer. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart, broze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republican of Vietnam Campaign Medal and he was an expert marksman. He married Sandy Williams of Chestertown, Md. on November 24, 1973. Mr. Leonard worked as a body repairman at Patrick's Auto Body Shop. He was also a school bus driver for Tater Schauber and a U-Star Driver for many years, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a dedicated father while his boys competed in Football, Wrestling, and Lacrosse. He never missed a game or match. Mr. Leonard enjoyed Nascar, Texas Hold Em, and his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Michael Douglas Leonard of Las Vegas, Nev., and Wilbur R. Leonard, III, of La Plata, Md.; two sisters, Margaret Ann Cannon of Middletown, Del., and Judy Patrick of Chestertown, Md.; four brothers, David F. Leonard of Betterton, Md., William Leonard of Chestertown, Md., Arthur Leonard of Millington, Md. and Larry Leonard of Sudlersville, Md.; two grandsons, Jarritt Leonard and Jaxson Leonard, along with man's best friend Brutes, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A service will be 1 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. 130 Speer Road Chestertown, Md., where relatives and friends may call one hour prior (12 p.m. to 1 p.m.). Interment will be in Chester Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Kent Co., Inc. P.O. Box 352 Chestertown, MD 21620.
