Crenia Robbins Obituary

Crenia L. Robbins, 86

CAMBRIDGE - Crenia L. Robbins, 86, died Thursday, March 13, 2008.

Born in Robbins on Dec. 24, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Baynard and Rubye Elizabeth Simmons Robbins.

She attended schools in Dorchester County. On Dec. 9, 1941 she married the late David Gregg Robbins.

For a number of years she worked in the family business at Simmons Canning Factory. She also worked at Powley's Seafood Company.

Mrs. Robbins was a lifelong member of Bounds United Methodist Church where she served as Lay Leader, Sunday School teacher, Finance Committee chairperson, Trustee, and Treasurer.

She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Rumbley and her husband, Bill of Cambridge; a granddaughter, Christy Lednum and her husband, Charley of East New Market; four sisters, Annabelle Robbins of Cambridge, Jean Murphree of Alexandria, Va., Patricia Juric of Wilmington, N.C., Rebecca Peders of Park Hills, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mina Rossy of Cambridge.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, at Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Crouch officiating. The family will receive friends from noon - 1 pm.

Serving as pallbearers are Charley Lednum, Wayne Harrington, Ted Peders, Joe Juric, Steve McCollister and Phillip Willey. Burial will follow at Sandy Island Cemetery in Robbins.
