Raymond “Ray" L. Gaston, 74, Daykin, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. He was born Dec. 14, 1931, at Hebron, the son of Virl and Dora (Nystrom) Gaston at Hebron. He was a farmer and was in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, serving from March 17, 1952, to March 1, 1954.
Survivors: stepsisters, Ila May Wedeking of Aurora, Gloria Deke and husband Wilferd of Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virl and Dora (Nystrom) Gaston.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, United Methodist Church in Daykin, Pastor Glenn Holtz officiating. Burial: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rose Hill Cemetery, Hebron. Memorials to the church and Daykin Rescue Unit. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home, Fairbury, in charge of arrangements.
