Albert Picchioldi

Albert J. "Al" Picchioldi, 76, of Maryville, Ill., born April 22, 1939, in Highland, Ill., passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 4:55 p.m., at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Al was a 1957 Collinsville High School graduate. He worked in accounting for many years, and retired as a bus driver for the Madison County Transit. He served as the Village Treasurer in Maryville, Ill., for several years. He was an honorary member of the Anderson Hospital Auxiliary.

Al and his wife, Mary took over the family grocery store, Picchioldi & Sons in Maryville, Ill., from his parents, Ernie and Mary, and ran the business until 1976. He enjoyed the outdoors, sitting on his front porch enjoying the weather, and taking day trips with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary M., nee Massander, Picchioldi, whom he married in 1961; and his parents, Ernest and Mary, nee Vallino, Picchioldi.

Surviving are a son, Michael (Teri) Picchioldi of Edwardsville, Ill.; a daughter, Carol (John Fisher) Picchioldi of Collinsville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Joel (Yenny) Blaies, Lauren (Anthony) Randazzo, Karleigh Leahy, and Nicole Picchioldi; two great-grandchildren, Amelie Blaies and Blaine Randazzo; a brother, Norman (Pam) Picchioldi of Maryville, Ill.; a special cousin, Theresa Schwartz of Maryville, Ill.; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, or Heartland Hospice, and will be received at the funeral home.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the funeral home, with family friend, Delmar Tegtmeier officiating. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery, Maryville, Ill.
